ASUS Launches Turbo Radeon AI Pro R9700, Its First AMD Card with a 12V-2x6 Connector


The factory-overclocked, blower-style GPU is engineered for AI developers and professionals seeking compact, high-performance cooling.

ASUS has officially unveiled its Turbo Radeon AI Pro R9700 32GB, a high-performance graphics card purpose-built for AI developers and professionals who demand efficient cooling, a compact footprint, and robust reliability. Marking a significant first, this is ASUS's debut AMD-based card to feature the modern 12V-2x6 power connector.

Designed for workstations and multi-GPU server environments, the card features a classic dual-slot, blower-style cooling system. This design is highly effective at exhausting heat directly out of the chassis, a critical feature for maintaining stability in densely packed systems. The card measures a tidy 26.7 cm in length, making it compatible with a wide range of cases.

To bolster its thermal performance, ASUS has engineered a reinforced die-cast shroud and backplate, which the company claims can lower VRAM temperatures by as much as 16%. Under the hood, a phase-change thermal pad on the GPU promises more effective and durable long-term heat transfer compared to traditional thermal paste. ASUS recommends a power supply of at least 750W for stable operation.
While its primary focus is the professional market, ASUS hasn't ignored performance enthusiasts. The Turbo Radeon AI Pro R9700 is the first card of its kind to ship with an official factory overclock, managed via the GPU Tweak III software. It boasts a boost clock of 2940 MHz—a 20 MHz bump over reference specs—and a game clock of 2370 MHz.

The underlying Radeon AI PRO R9700, which launched in July without a reference model from AMD, is a potent solution for both AI workloads and standard workstation applications. It comes equipped with a massive 32GB of GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit bus, 128 AI Accelerators, and delivers a powerful 1531 TOPS of INT4 performance.
