The W1 Wireless Gaming Keyboard is quite unique for a wireless keyboard. The most unique feature is the fact that you can actually store up to 3 Bluetooth connections at the same time and switch between them seamlessly. If you are constantly doing work on a tablet and a computer at the same time this will be one of the most productive features you will find on a keyboard. Now you can set up both devices and switch between the two or (up to three) extremely efficiently. This will have you powering through work on a tablet and switching back to your game on your desktop at a flip of a switch. Anything that has compatibility to accept a Bluetooth keyboard connection will now be stored in that profile in the keyboard to quickly access at a later time. Not only will this keyboard turn you into a work master, it has all the features to garner the respect of even serious gamers. This keyboard will also perform very well as a gaming keyboard when its called upon. So, for now let get through all the details on the next few pages and then see if this keyboard met my expectations!
Game freely with the W1 Wireless, which supports 2.4GHz, low energy Bluetooth and wired USB connection modes. It is also equipped with Cherry MX mechanical switches and ultra-durable PBT keycaps for the best typing and gaming experience.

The packaging differs a little from the other flavors from Thermaltake. We have basically all the same info around the box as the others I have received in the past. We just have a darker color scheme when it comes to the over tone of the box and graphics. You can guarantee that the keyboard is safe during the shipping process as always.

Now let us take a closer look at the Thermaltake W1 Wireless Gaming Keyboard!
A Closer Look
The biggest thing when it comes to mechanical keyboard is the switches. For some this can be confusing and somewhat complicated because there are so many choices out there. This particular keyboard features the Cherry MX Red switches. Lets break down and compare the differences of the ones out there courtesy of PC Gamer and wasd for the force curve.
- Linear. The keystroke is consistent and smooth.
- Tactile. A bump in the middle of travel, usually around the actuation point.
- Clicky. A bump in the middle of travel accompanied by a sharp “click” sound.
- Behavior: Linear
- Feel: Light
- Actuation Force: 45g
- Actuation Point: 2mm
- Total Travel Distance: 4mm
- Sound Level: Quiet
- Rated Lifespan: 50 million keystrokes per key
- Force Curve: Here
Recommended for: Gamers looking for fast action with minimal resistance. There isn’t a tactile bump in the middle to overcome. But for this exact reason, the Cherry MX Red may not be ideal for typists as it lacks that tactile feedback.
Cherry MX RED Mechanical Switches
Cherry MX Red Switches have the simplest operation, moving straight up and down without any additional tactile feedback or loud clicking noise – we’ll come to these more complicated switches later on.
Ultra-durable PBT Keycaps
The keycaps on this wireless mechanical gaming keyboard also have extra-thick walls which make them extremely tough to withstand prolonged, repeated use.
Three Modes Of Connection
Fast 1ms polling rate for flawless 2.4G wireless performance when gaming, or switch to Bluetooth and connect up to 3 devices—toggling between them seamlessly with just one button. Includes detachable USB type-C cable for wire mode use.
Dedicated Volume Wheel / Mute Button
Control sound levels on-the-fly and access multimedia controls with ease using the conveniently placed dedicated controls.
Game Mode Function
Disable windows key to prevent accidental press of the windows key whilst in game.
Fully Anti-Ghosting and USB N-KEY Rollover
USB N-Key rollover function allows the W1 Wireless to hit a combination of keys at once to ensure your gaming session is as fluid as it can be, without obstacles!
Ergonomic Wrist Rest Design
Full palm support, so you’re comfortable typing and gaming for as long as you want.
There we have it! The W1 Wireless Gaming Keyboard brought to us by Thermaltake! Let us cover a few final thoughts and conclusion of our review.
Conclusion and Verdict
In conclusion, the Thermaltake W1 Wireless has one of the more unique features I have seen in a while. This keyboard has the function where you can connect up to 3 devices to the keyboard at the same time. All you have to do is switch between the profiles using the Fn function. Just remember what device you connected to which profile and you won’t get confused trying to figure out which device you are actually connected too. I tried this between my phone and desktop. And if your Bluetooth is on on your device once you switch profiles you almost have immediate connection. Its way faster that turning on a headset and waiting for it to connect. The speed switching between devices worked seamlessly and quite enjoyable rather than going into Bluetooth settings to connect the keyboard. While this may be the biggest selling feature of this keyboard it doesn’t stop there.
The W1 Wireless comes equipped with Cherry MX Red switches which is a go-to switch for a lot of gamers. You also have 3 modes you can connect this keyboard. Wired, for the most responsive, 2.4GHz, for lighting fast wireless, and Bluetooth for reliable connection between multiple devices. This keyboard offers a multitude of compatibility for whatever your need may be. Whether you type a lot or game these keycaps wont flinch. These are some of the most robust keycaps I have ever seen. They are extremely rigid and twice as thick as the keyboard I am currently using. I was a little concerned it was going to feel like pushing bricks but I didn’t even notice the extra material while using the keyboard. The battery life was decent. I would upgrade to some rechargeable lithium batteries to even extend the 2.5 month battery life advertised. I have been testing this for quite a while and have yet ran it out of the included batteries. I haven’t had it for 2.5 months but for about three weeks now it has been my daily driver and hasn’t missed a beat even through writing up this review. Great all around keyboard for accomplishing work and gaming all with the same keyboard.
